Open Activities & journey in the Hub game to see three different systems: your permanent beginner journey, rotating weekly trials and dated events. They share the short expedition format, but their goals and rewards work differently.
Trial access is temporary play permission. A partner reward is permanent collection ownership. Playing Gastly in a free trial does not unlock it; completing an eligible reward and choosing Gastly does.
First, know what rewards what
| System | What you do | Reward handling | Schedule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beginner journey | Complete six learning goals | Coins and tickets automatic; final partner selected manually | Never expires |
| Weekly trial | Choose one of three free partners and play | Ordinary run, mission and journey progress; no separate weekly milestone payout | Rotates Monday, 00:00 UTC |
| Themed event | Complete objectives in runs entered through that event | Automatic milestone resources; four-objective partner selected manually | Dated window shown in game |
| Daily/weekly missions | Complete your assigned objectives | Claim the finished rewards in Missions or the result screen | Daily 00:00 UTC; weekly Monday 00:00 UTC |
There is no login streak for the journey or event milestones. Their progress is kept in your local save. All event objectives are available together while the event is open.
Complete the permanent beginner journey
| Goal | Requirement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Find your feet | Accumulate 10 seconds of movement | 100 coins |
| Your first build | Reach level 3 | 1 single-pull ticket |
| Try again | Finish 2 runs | 150 coins |
| Stronger together | Buy a shared upgrade | 2 single-pull tickets |
| A move transformed | Evolve a move | 3 single-pull tickets |
| Meet the team | Finish qualifying runs with 2 different partners | 250 coins |
Movement can accumulate between attempts. The partner goal uses runs lasting at least 60 seconds, with at least 10 seconds of movement and one enemy defeated. Free trials count, so owning a second Pokémon is not required.
Use a familiar starter for your first expedition and follow the recommended evolution cards. Buy an affordable shared upgrade when you can, then try a weekly partner for the second-partner goal. The purchased upgrade benefits Survival; it does not change the fixed trial preset.
After all six goals, return to Activities & journey → Journey complete · choose a partner. Choose an unowned partner from Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Eevee or Gastly. If you already own all six, claim 300 coins instead. The reward does not switch your active partner automatically.
Older saves can satisfy some journey goals from existing statistics or purchased upgrades. Those are normal journey rewards, separate from the old-upgrade migration refund.
Use weekly trials to learn another partner
The four-week cycle offers the following themes. Check the game for the current theme and next rotation time.
| Theme | Free partners | Weather | Final boss |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghost Survey | Gastly, Misdreavus, Duskull | Fog | Gengar |
| Rainy Expedition | Squirtle, Psyduck, Mudkip | Rain | Gyarados |
| Sunlit Expedition | Charmander, Vulpix, Cyndaquil | Sun | Charizard |
| Garden Expedition | Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko | Fog | Venusaur |
All trials use fixed upgrades and the same 7:00 boss / 8:00 deadline. They leave your saved partner unchanged. Weekly trials record qualifying attempts and victories, and can progress normal missions and journey goals. They do not have an additional weekly reward ladder.
Ghost Survey event: dates and entry
The first configured event runs October 14, 2026 at 00:00 UTC to October 28, 2026 at 00:00 UTC. This is a dated event, not a promise that Ghost Survey is always live. Its entry becomes unavailable when the window closes; the event card shows its status.
During the window, open Activities & journey → Ghost Survey → Start event · choose free partner. Pick Gastly, Misdreavus or Duskull. The final boss is Gengar.
Use the event button. An ordinary expedition or a weekly Ghost Survey trial is a different run type and will not advance this event’s objectives, even if the same partner is available there.
Make each event attempt count
A qualifying event run must meet all three conditions:
- Last 60 seconds or longer.
- Include at least 10 seconds of movement.
- Record at least one enemy defeated.
Early defeats, cancelling immediately or leaving the character idle do not count toward event progress. A timeout or defeat can count if the run meets the conditions. You do not have to win every attempt.
The six objectives are:
| Objective | How it accumulates |
|---|---|
| Play for 3 active minutes | Add the durations of qualifying event runs to reach 180 seconds |
| Finish 3 active runs | Complete 3 qualifying event attempts |
| Defeat 150 enemies | Add enemy defeats from qualifying event runs |
| Try 2 different event partners | Complete a qualifying event run with each of 2 partners |
| Survive 5 minutes | Reach 5:00 in one qualifying event attempt |
| Defeat the final boss | Win an event expedition |
A practical route to four objectives
Start with one partner and focus on a safe first minute. On another qualifying attempt, switch to a second free event partner. Aim to finish three qualifying runs in total and collect 150 enemy defeats across them.
That route can complete the duration, run-count, partner and defeat-count goals without requiring a final-boss victory. The enemy count still has to be earned; three attempts alone do not guarantee it. If a longer attempt reaches five minutes first, that is another objective toward the same total.
Once you have the four-objective reward, work on the five-minute and final-boss goals for the badge. The expedition guide covers preparing a move evolution before 7:00.
Rewards at two, four and six objectives
| Completed objectives | Reward at that milestone |
|---|---|
| 2 of 6 | 200 coins + 2 single-pull tickets |
| 4 of 6 | 400 coins + 8 single-pull tickets + 1 event partner choice |
| 6 of 6 | Ghost Researcher badge |
The two resource payouts are cumulative: reaching four objectives earns 600 coins and 10 single-pull tickets across those milestones, plus the partner choice. The final badge milestone does not add another currency payout.
Coins and tickets are saved automatically. Return to the event card and choose Choose your event reward partner for one unowned partner from Gastly, Misdreavus and Duskull. If all three are owned, the choice becomes 300 coins. Each milestone and partner choice is limited to once per local save for this event.
Closing time and rewards you already earned
A run started before the event closes can settle within 30 minutes after closing. It must still meet the qualifying-run conditions and belong to that event. You cannot start another event run after closing.
An earned, unselected partner choice remains available on the ended event’s card. Partners you claimed remain in your collection. The permanent beginner journey continues after the dated event ends.
Schedules use UTC and your device’s clock. This is a local single-player activity, not a server-ranked competition. Keep the device clock correct and download a backup if you want an external copy of the progress and claim history.
